Being single minded

is really very challenging in today's world. I sometimes catch myself driving and thinking about things and my eyes were just staring into blank (which I know this is seriously dangerous!!), or... I will be planning my class and my mind wander to what should I cook tonight... or I will be cooking and watching the tv and texting on my phone and talking to Eric all at the same time!

Really, the mind, cannot be tamed!

Then, I also realized, Multi-tasking is not all bad. If you really observe some great multi-tasker, they are so good because they focus on every task given. They are actually single-minded but at multiple occasions.

This week I challenged my students to stay single minded on their practice and come back to the root of Yoga - To Yoke/To Unite. While they move into an asana with their normal struggles of the body limitations, they were encouraged to think of what they want to achieve in that asana. Think simple, think single. And then, work towards the alignment, the strengthening and the relaxation in the asana.

Bring this resolve out of the yoga mat and apply to day-to-day. I am still practicing this outside of my mat... it is still very challenging :)
